Training

Cycling England has placed training at the core of many of its programmes.

Key activities for 2006 include the development of a new National Cycle Training Standard to replace and update the "cycling proficiency" test which has fallen into abeyance, as well as the development of a Professional Skills training package available for practitioners.

A NEW NATIONAL STANDARD FOR CYCLE TRAINING
Developed with the support of LARSOA, RoSPA, CTC and other leading authorities in safety standards, the new standard builds on the old cycling proficiency test to provide the skills to ride safely on today’s roads. Many authorities already have excellent cycle training schemes in place, but a uniformly high standard of instruction is needed across the country.

BURSARIES FOR CYCLING INSTRUCTORS
Cycling England is offering bursaries towards the cost of becoming an accredited instructor to all Local Authorities, other organisations or individuals. This is an amazing opportunity to receive match funding
and ensure your cycling trainers are accredited to the new national standard. Cycling England in partnership with the Cyclists' Touring Club is planning to train 1280 instructors in the next three years, so call now to receive your funding! For more information:

In conjunction with local management, they can develop modular training programmes to suit local priorities.
