Exeter’s Cycling Demonstration Towns project (Cycle Exeter) has been keen to encourage and support the development of Bicycle User Groups (BUGs) in workplaces. 86,000 people work in Exeter and the project is working hard to get more of them cycling! (more…)

Lambeth has a “joined up” approach to cycle facilities and the National Standards Cycle Training (i.e. any facilities for cyclists should be designed to enable and encourage cyclists to cycle following national standard principles).

Student cycling doubles in less than two years!

The Swindon Workplace Cycle Challenge aimed to encourage people who hadn’t cycled at all or very little in a long time to get on a bike and cycle to work or just hop on a bike for a period of time and enjoy themselves. Giving people a short positive cycling experience is a good first step to changing people’s perceptions towards cycling (more…)

The Family Cycle Clubs has just won the London Cycling Campaign award for Best Cycling Initiative for Young People or Children in London. The project came about in the summer last year. Cllr Rita Krishna, Hackney Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, suggested that existing cycle training for families should be expanded (more…)

British Waterways has constructed this novel off road facility along the Limehouse Cut, which is a 1½ mile canal connecting Limehouse Basin to Bow in East London. In practical terms the floating towpath makes the canal accessible to cyclists, providing a continuous route along the canal. (more…)

York Hospital lies about a kilometre north of the Minster, west of the Wigginton Road radial. A constrained site, it has its back to the York-Scarborough railway line, the grounds of the PCT owned Bootham Park Hospital to the south, and housing to the north.
